Archiving and long-term retention policy
Archiving and Long-Term Storage Policy
The editorial board of the collection "Proceedings of Odessa Polytechnic University" is aware of the importance of maintaining access to scientific research in the long term. Our archiving strategy is based on the principles of reliability, openness and multi-vector storage of digital data.
1. National and institutional archiving
In order to guarantee the security and constant availability of publications, all issues of the collection are archived in the following digital funds:
• Institutional Repository of Odessa Polytechnic University (ELAR): Full-text versions of all articles are placed in the university repository, which ensures their integration into the global network of scientific data.
• V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine: Electronic copies of the publication are transferred to the national archive "Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine".
2. Technical means and identification
To ensure technical stability and correct citation, we use:
• DOI (Digital Object Identifier): Each published article is assigned a unique digital identifier through the CrossRef agency. This ensures a permanent and unchanging link to the article, even if the site URL changes.
• OAI-PMH metadata: The publication site supports the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting protocol, which allows automated systems (indexes, databases) to easily find and index our materials.
3. Accessibility and self-archiving guarantees
We support the Sherpa/Romeo (Green Open Access) self-archiving policy:
• Preprints and postprints: Authors have the right to place their manuscripts on personal blogs, on the pages of specialized communities (ResearchGate, Academia.edu) and in the repositories of their institutions both before and after publication.
• Continuity of access: In the event of discontinuation of the collection, the publisher guarantees continued access to the published archive through the university repository and national library funds.
4. Backup
The editorial office conducts monthly full backups of the website database and PDF files to separate university servers. This minimizes the risks of data loss due to technical failures or cyber threats.
